A noble boy grows up to embark on a journey, to find out who he was, before his reincarnation.

Padma Angdu, a once ordinary boy living in Ladakh is appointed as a Rinpoche at the tender age of six. He is believed to be the reincarnation of a great lama from Tibet. However, due to political instability, he is displaced in his reincarnation and is separated from his former disciples. In contrast to the privileged life that he could have surrounded by helpers in a majestic monastery, his ordination results in a series of unwanted changes, as well as banishment from a significant monastery in Ladakh.
Four years go by, yet none of the disciples from his former life in Tibet has come to find him in Ladakh, to provide the care and education that he needs – without which there are detrimental consequences. As the vulnerable Rinpoche enters into adolescence, he faces questions of survival, coming-of-age, and serving a sacred order. In the struggle to uphold tradition and to fulfill the high expectations of his community, the Rinpoche embarks on a dangerous journey with his aging godfather to find his place in the world. Filmed for 7 years, their loving relationship will come to a halt when they reach the monastery of Rinpoche’s origins.
