A must-go forum for Asian documentaries, Docs Port Incheon 2017 will be held at Olympos Hotel (former Paradise Hotel Incheon) from November 2 to 5 and is finding for the most outstanding documentary projects from every corner of Asian region. Docs Port Incheon(DPI) is a forum to provide Asian documentary creators with the opportunity to meet the professionals from diverse fields of documentary industry, as well as to get funded. DPI has been rapidly growing to become one of the most important documentary projects market in Asia. At last year’s edition, more than 120 broadcasters, distributors, funds, and institutes took part in DPI and had 250 biz meeting! Among the delegates of former editions you can find the names of leading broadcasters in the world - BBC, DR, ITVS, Tribeca, Knowledge Network, YLE, SVT, Al Jazeera, Discovery, NHK, SMG and etc. Not a few participants found co-production partners, got funded and commissioned. And many of the completed documentaries which had been introduced at DPI were invited for the prestigious film festivals like Cannes, Berlinale, IDFA, Hot Docs and well accepted of course. It’s out of question that DPI has been a place of practical opportunity for all of them.
The period of forum is expanded to 4 days this year. An intensive training will be provided to the participants prior to the pitch. And the grants for the prize winners are restored above all – more than 200,000 Euro cash and in-kind grants! Just one pitch session per day will give enough time for the biz meetings, biz talks and showcases. Another shift from last year’s edition is enhanced training. One month earlier training session is for the development of the projects in the aspect of storytelling, method of approach, structure and pitching itself. World famous documentary professionals will be invited as the trainers and will give invaluable feedbacks to each project. Of course it will be a fantastic time for the participants to know each other and become friends. The session is open to the participants of all categories.
Now we are eagerly looking for the most enthusiastic Asian documentary film makers with their own unique and creative projects. Non-Korean Asian projects are eligible for A-pitch. And the projects which once was invited to former DPI and finished the production can apply for Rough Cut Sales section too. Never hesitate to catch the chance to make your project stunningly developed and get through to the decision makers!
The online submission for Docs Port Incheon will be available at our official website, www.idocs-port.org from July 10 through July 28, open for all documentaries under production stage. For detailed information for submission, the FAQ page will soon be provided at the website.
