starts on November 2nd!

Docs Port Incheon 2017 will be held at Olympos Hotel Incheon from November 2nd to 5th. It is the one and only documentary project market in Korea that introduces the most notable documentary projects in Korea and Asia and supports the documentary business at every stage from production to distribution.

 

During the one-month pre-registration period from September 11th through the official website, more than 380 participants from about 120 companies and organizations related to documentary including major companies from home and abroad confirmed their participation.

 

Major overseas participants who completed the pre-registration include the internationally influential public broadcasting companies such as NHK from Japan, BBC Storyville from the UK, POV from the USA, SVT from Sweden, and Knowledge Network from Canada. Major European documentary distributors who have many experiences with Korean documentaries, Cat & Docs and First Hand Films, will also participate as well as the well-known documentary markets and forums from Asia and Europe including Tokyo Docs, CNEX, Docs By The Sea, DocedgeKolkata, Nordisk Panorama, and Sheffield Doc/Fest. Korean participants include the major broadcasting companies such as KBS, SBS, and EBS, and important distributors like CGV Arthouse, Daemyung Culture Factory, At9 Film, Cinema Dal, Indiestory, and Jinjin Pictures, etc. Also. many companies covering post-production, subtitling, sound design, theaters, and even designers and marketers also decided to join and provide in-kind support. The great response from the domestic and international participants reflects the fact that Docs Port Incheon gets the notable recognition from home and abroad as it makes the substantial growth every year as one of the most significant documentary forum in Korea and Asia.

 

During this four-day event, a total of 31 Korean and Asian documentary projects from 11 countries will be introduced in three categories: Korean Project Pitching (K-Pitch), Asian Project Pitching (A-Pitch), and Rough Cut Sales. These new and ingenious 31 documentary projects will be given a total of 40 thousand USD worth of cash prizes, funds, and in-kind supports along with the pitch and business meetings.

 

The 'Biz Talk' program, which was launched last year to acknowledge and provide the latest information and trends of documentary films and business, will be extended into 4 sessions this year. The Round Table session of the representatives from Asia's leading pitching forums (Docs Port Incheon, CNEX-CCDF, Docs By The Sea, DocedgeKolkata, and Tokyo Docs) will be held to discuss the measures for Asian documentaries, how they could work and grow together. The introduction session for Nordisk Panorama who will collaborate with Docs Port Incheon in 2018 will also take place. The session for reviewing the achievements and forecasting the prospects of the Korean documentaries in the international scene will also be held with the leading distributors in Europe, which have continuously distributed Korean documentaries. Finally, the session for sharing the know-how of successful documentary post-production process with the professionals will be held as well. All these sessions will provide practical information which could be useful for the documentary film makers.
