    Synopsis

    The Dark Secret of Rapid Economic Growth of South Korea. In central Vietnam, there are people who still live with the memory of brutal massacres. Every February, villagers offer prayers and burn incense throughout the country in an attempt to help console the victims. They call this ceremony “Dai Han (Korean) Commemoration” In the 1960s, South Korea fought in the Vietnam War as a US ally with the aim of rooting out communism. However, what they did was simple and cruel: they killed a large number of civilians. Living testimony from the survivors hasn’t been able to set history straight. Instead, the atrocities have been treated as if they never existed. Korea’s official historical record states that thanks to the Vietnam War, Korea was able to achieve rapid economic growth. These different accounts of the war now represent a new battle between conflicting memories documented in “A War of Memories”

    Synopsis

    Imagine being photographed or filmed secretly and leaked to cyberspace without knowing when, where, and by whom they were taken and labeled as ‘*** girl,’ then being isolated since. This is the fears of many women, and the level of fear is more than men can imagine. While the system of exploiting the images of women and making profits has been established and industrialized, the state has made almost no sanctions. The camera follows the narratives of the young women standing at the space where the state should have been.

Kailash in Tibet, which the Tibetans believe to be the center of the universe. They should travel almost 20,000 kilometers by land. Can she pray in Mt. Kailash after riding out all the adverse situations on the way? Can the son see his mother's blissful smile on the mountain?

    Synopsis

    KIM-GUN begins with a photo of an armed young man taken during the 1980 Gwangju Uprising and the ensuing Massacre. 35 years later, the identity of the man has become a source of controversy: ex-army official JEE Man-won claims the man is one of the North Korean special agents whose mission was to instigate anti-government violence. Outraged survivors consider legal actions against JEE for defamation and hate speech, but fail to find any witnesses who remember the man. It is when Joo-ok, a 56-year-old laundry woman, sees the photo and recognizes the face that things begin to change. Joo remembers him as ‘KIM-GUN,’ a homeless man who collected scraps on the street and slept under a local bridge. Starting from Joo's memory of the man, the documentary sets out in search of the missing man. *'gun' is a honorific used for young males in Korean language.

    Synopsis

    Layne, an American adoptee returns home to South Korea after 40 years of separation, and finds his biological mother fighting against breast cancer. Although at first, they begin by using a translation application that lands them in giggles, Layne embarks on a new challenge in his foreign ‘motherland’ to learn the language in order to support his mother through chemotherapy. As a part-time job, Layne helps other adoptees find their birth parents, but his curiosity about his biological father begins to grow. As he attempts to seek out his father and step-siblings who are as old as his mother, a new conflict begins at home. The more he digs up facts about his lost father, his mother’s wish to keep the past buried eventually leads to Layne being kicked out of the house. Will their relationship stand the test of time, under new circumstances that neither had anticipated?

As her time in the South gets longer, she gets more anxious. She feels like she has lost her universe. She is scared that everyday that she stays in the South, the people she loves get farther and farther away from her. She fears that she might become someone like a shadow to her family. A person who exists only in their memories…
